Perrysburg
General Overview Perrysburg is located along the Maumee River in Wood County, Ohio. It features an historic downtown business district and a town center where residents gather to shop and dine. Fort Meigs, which played a critical role during the war of 1812, is located close to downtown. Perrysburg boasts a top-ranked school system. Perrysburg's cost of living is 8.28% lower than the U.S. average History Fort Meigs was constructed on a bluff overlooking the Maumee River in February of 1813 by General William Henry Harrison. The fort was designed by army engineer Captain Eleazer D. Wood, the county's namesake. The town itself was founded in 1816 and named for Commodore Oliver Perry, who drove the British from Lake Erie. From its beginnings as an inland shipping port, Perrysburg has grown to a community of 18,000 residents. Government Services Perrysburg is governed by a mayor and city council.
